Race 3 – 2:00PM Evolve Interiors 3YO Maiden Plate (1203 METRES)
#1 CLEVOR TREVER has shown nice talent at the trials. He got back and worked through late to win a slowly run heat at Mortlake back on November 6 before ramping it up with a more serious hit-out at Seymour on November 14, where he went forward and won by a space. His final piece of work was a trial on the Caulfield Heath track where he settled third-last before picking off runs in the straight to finish third. The best part of his work was the furlong past the post – he was very strong.
#4 MILLENNIUM BLADE has been gelded leading into this campaign. He has been ridden conservatively in his Cranbourne jump-outs, but has moved to the line well. It looks like they are trying to teach him to settle, so tactics will be interesting from a wide draw. He’s trialled well enough, but think he’s aggressively priced as an even-money favourite.
Suggested bet:
Backing #1 CLEVOR TREVER to WIN.
Race 5 – 3:00PM Miranda Park 4YO+ Maiden Plate (1203 METRES)
#1 ALPINE FOX has had two jump-outs at Cranbourne and moved well in each. He got a long way back in his first outing before working through the line well in fifth. He again settled rearward in his most recent hit-out before making his run with Ten Warriors, who he was able to nose out late in good time for the morning. Ten Warriors was subsequently a good-thing beaten at Geelong fresh.
He raced without much luck in better Maidens last campaign. The knock is he’s not the best beginner, but this track has been playing reasonably fairly of late and Jamie Mott has been riding very well.
#10 OCEANELLA has trialled ‘fairly’ ahead of her resumption. She was good in a few handy Maidens last campaign but seems under the odds with a tricky map.
Suggested bet:
Backing #1 ALPINE FOX 1×3 E/W
