A star on the track is very fast becoming a star off it as Cox Plate winner Anamoe’s first crop is the darling of the buying bench at the Magic Millions Sale.
James Cummings’ nine-time Group 1 winner has averaged $435,000 from 16 lots with a top price of $850,000 from micro-share company MyRacehorse.
The colt from Milburn Creek draft has a Godolphin flavour, being out of Exceed And Excel mare Luqlaa, who has already produced one Stakes winner in Tannhauser.
“We thought he was the best Anamoe in the sale and we actually thought he was the best colt in the sale and we didn’t want to leave without him,” MyRacehorse’s Emma Freedman said.
“On type, he was great, on pedigree, he was great, and we believe in the stallion going forward, and we’re very excited to get him.“
“We know that our clients at MyRacehorse will dive into him.”
Lindsay Park picked up an Anamoe colt out of Neita for $610,000 and Ben Hayes was glowing about his stock.
“He’s been spoken about very highly coming into this season and we really liked him, we’ve bought two now, so hopefully he’s going to be a good stallion,” he said.
“You never know with these first-season sires but he’s stamped them well, he gets a good sales horse and that’s very important.”
There were another four million-dollar lots with Snitzel continuing his massive sale by breaking the magical mark twice on day three. It included the top-priced filly sold so far, a Snitzel out of Madame Andree that went to Hermitage for $1.6 million.
“She was our top pick for the sale. Obviously, we’ve had a lot of luck with a Snitzel filly [Lady Shenandoah] recently,” Hermitage’s Shannon Clarke said.
“That was our limit. That was where we were going to sit and my heart was pounding at that point and I’m happy that we were able to secure her.”
Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said the sale is ahead of last year at the same point, with Friday to be the new super session that has plenty of quality.
“I think the super session will be buzzing. There’ll be more people around for the races and I see the sale continuing to build on itself day-by-day,” Bowditch said.
“There is a really good vibe and everything that we hoped for.”
