A decent Gold Coast meeting Friday night and feel there are a couple of races I am keen to play into, and build momentum into the weekend.
Race 4 (7) COUNT NICHOLAS $4.60
Just feel that a lot of these horses are either over the hill or badly out of form. This bloke, on the other hand, has had a fantastic prep and absolutely loves this track.
Campton took him out to 1540m on the polytrack last start for a fitness run, and the drop back to 1400m on the turf with a feather weight looks a great set-up. He looks the one they all have to beat.
Race 8 (1) ARGENTUM ROCK $3.50 and (13) NUKATABE $6
Probably 60% of the bet on the toppy and 40% on the bottom one at the prices.
(1) Argentum Rock has been racing very well on this track recently, but he just doesn’t win all that often. Hoping they can be a bit patient, conserve him for as long as possible and give him one last shot at them late.
(13) Nukatabe comes out of a weak race and didn’t beat much last start, but a good young apprentice goes on and she gets in with bugger all weight. Expecting them to make use of that and settle in the first four or five. She can surprise a few here.
