Beirne is happy to risk Oso Spirited, who shapes as one of the key market elects but may not have the figures to justify the price.
“Maps well, but the figures just don’t stack up,” Beirne said.
“The market has him a couple of lengths shorter than he should be and seems to have missed others in the race that either have stronger exposed form or more upside.”

Geelong Race 8 – Mrs Iglesia
At Geelong, Beirne is taking on another popular runner in Mrs Iglesia, who has been catching the eye with strong late sectionals.
But there’s a catch.
“She keeps running big splits, but she also keeps finding trouble,” Beirne said.
“She maps to land back and on the inside again, and that brings the same risks. There’s every chance she runs into trouble once more.”
It’s a familiar profile, a horse with ability but reliant on race shape and luck, and that’s enough for Beirne to take a set against her at a short quote.
