| Race | Horse | Bet Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Race 6 | Leg Drive | Win | Strong run fresh despite covering ground and being held up. Maps handier and the mile suits. |
| Race 7 | Regal Tycoon | Win | Should lead in a race with limited speed. Racing well and hit peak fitness. |
Turf Talk:
- Track has come up a Soft 5 and with clear conditions one would think it may get to a Good 4.
- Rail back to the True in the home straight after being 8m last time out, but it is out 2m around the home bend, which may assist those off speed.
- Light winds forecas.
- A few races down it looks like the middle lanes are well and truly in play at Geelong today.
Race 6
Leg Drive was taken back first up but his normal pattern is to race handier, so hopefully Patty Moloney is positive from a good enough gate. He covered ground four-wide around the home bend fresh at Cranbourne and was then held up at the top of the straight before charging late, the run was much better than the 6th placing would suggest. Step to a mile today is ideal. $6 appeals.
Vivacissimo was good against the pattern on Geelong Cup Day and looks like the mile will suit. Can settle handier from the low draw.
Suggested bet: Backing Leg Drive at $6.
Race 7
Doesn’t look a lot of speed here which should allow Regal Tycoon to find the top reasonable comfortably. She’s racing really well this campaign, and was only nabbed in the final stride by an airborne Shaalute after looking all over the winner at Mornington last start. At peak fitness now, the 1300m shouldn’t be an issue.
Think the main danger is Princess Toro who draws well and does have a good degree of talent.
Happy to oppose Chewing Gum at this stage. She burst onto the scene with an awesome debut win at this track in September last year but hasn’t lived up to that since. Thought she was just fair at Ballarat last time out and draws for a tricky run here. $2.50 looks under the odds.
Suggested bet: Keen Regal Tycoon. Think she starts favourite.
