Summary of Best Bets:
Race 3 #2 Khoirgirl – Loved the positive tactics last start and hope they ride the same.
Race 6 #5 Impact Zone – Well bred, gelded and joins the new stable. Recent trial was sharp.
Roughie- Race 1 #6 The Aviator- 2nd prep and trial was very good.
Turf Talk:
- Rail 4.5m: Good spot for the rail
- Hot weather and just a chance of showers.
- Should race well.
Key Stats:
- Ben Thompson is about to dominate. He has won 7 of the last 22 he has been on top of and looks to be at the start of a good run.
- Jace McMurray has a very good book of rides here and he can build on the positive stats of recent times. Striking at 16% his last 50 rides and ROI +12%
Race by race overview
Race 1:
(5) Delicious Derek has been a bit plain in Sydney but will be way better suited here. Liked him in a race last week at $15 but they scratched and this looks easier. Could be the big improver and Thompson on is a huge positive.
(6) The Aviator is the other one I think will make a horse. Just the one run last prep where he flopped out the back and it was mission impossible there. The latest trial was good after being held up. Think he’s better than many think.
Watch the market with (2) Funhouse. Everything says he will need the run but Currie on debut so watch out.
Selections:
(6) The Aviator
(5) Delicious Derek
(2) Funhouse
Suggested Bet: Win (6) The Aviator and save (5) Delicious Derek if price allows.
Race 2:
(4) King Of Minto is very consistent and although the recent form is on the polytrack, the turf runs have been very good. Will lead them for a long way and look the winner.
I’ve liked what I’ve seen with (5) Tophet since joining the Dunn camp. The wins have only been at Ballina and Murwillumbah but they have been dominant and can keep improving. No reason they can’t box seat here and get every chance late. Drops 4kg on the last win also.
Maybe (8) Capital Diva is the next best.
Selections:
(5) Tophet
(4) King Of Minto
(8) Capital Diva
Suggested Bet: Small win bet (5) Tophet
Race 3:
There is bugger all between a handful of these and might be best ride wins.
(4) Edge Of Infinity couldn’t compete down south but was good here last start. 4th up now, in Waller yard and expecting a very good run from a decent gate.
Last start (2) Khoirgirl went handlebars down to lead and took off on the corner. Was run down on the line but the effort was great. If they try similar tactics here it is a suitable track and 2kg claim helps.
The others have to improve to win.
Selections:
(2) Khoirgirl
(4) Edge Of Infinity
Suggested Bet: Win bet (2) Khoirgirl
Race 4:
(4) Ramp It Up has had no luck all prep and is a very good one on his day. Has copped a couple of poor rides but to 1600m and a good gate that should not be an issue here. Very well placed here.
(1) Last Command is in great form and has been strong through the line. Ran well on this track two starts ago and that form has held up pretty well. Gets a 2kg claim to help and looks very hard to hold out here.
I do think those two have a clear class edge on the rest of them.
Selections:
(4) Ramp It Up
(1) Last Command
Suggested Bet: Win bet (4) Ramp It Up or have the Quinella 1-4.
Race 5:
(15) Snitzstream is a consistent type but was beaten at odds-on last time out. Was very good through the line but no match for the winner (who didn’t run well Sat). Gets Thompson on and gate 1, both huge helps.
Not sure what to make of (4) Veomas. Has been just a pass mark down south but will find this easier and Gollan has a habit of improving these types quickly.
(6) Boozie Miss was good on debut and tipped straight out. Recent trial was OK and watch the market with her. Scratching’s have helped her out.
Hard to win on debut but (7) Don’t Doubt Missy was a decent trial and has a nice gate, worth thoughts for exotic players.
Selections:
(15) Snitzstream
(6) Boozie Miss
(7) Don’t Doubt Missy
(4) Veomas
Suggested Bet: No.
Race 6:
(5) Impact Zone is a well bred one who has raced in Sydney and shown ability. Joins the Nat McCall team and the trials have been very good after being gelded. This horse looks really well placed around here and should win multiple races for the new stable.
(7) Andi Don’t Care is an honest type who is always around the money but lacks a turn of foot to really get through the grades. Can sit behind the leaders here and gets chance again.
Stablemate (8) Dismantle has ability but was 460 days between runs fresh. May need this but just watch the market with her.
(9) Immediate is yet another Gollan runner. Another who is always around the money but just the one win from 9 starts. Goes in exotics.
Selections:
(5) Impact Zone
(7) Andi Don’t Care
(9) Immediate
(8) Dismantle
Suggested Bet: Win (5) Impact Zone
Race 7:
(2) Carbonara won two midweek races in a row and then jumped to 3YO old Saturday grade last time out. Only beaten 2.7L into 4th there and looks well placed back in grade with a 2kg claim.
Hard to win on debut but (3) Point Vega did just that and in good style. Ended up dominant and from gate 5 can land on the leader’s backs here. Up in grade obviously but looks to have good ability.
(5) Cryptic Beauty bumped into a good one last start but was a great effort there. You’d say the 1200m is the box that needs to be ticked but running the best L200m in both her last starts seems as though she will be fine.
(8) Ekhidna was more than good enough in a decent Saturday grade race last time out and can go close here without surprising.
Selections:
(2) Carbonara
(5) Cryptic Beauty
(3) Point Vega
(8) Ekhidna
Suggested Bet: No bet
