Summary of Best Bets:

Next best – Race 1 No.3 Sarapo

Best Value: Race 2 No.4 Wolf Gap and No.8 Naadra

Best bet – Race 3 No.3 Nazwah

Race by race overview

Race 1:

Keen to get into this contest. Not a whole lot of speed to report up front, Nordic Viking has come out and will go around on Friday, likely a bet there.

(3) Sarapo teased talent last time in but looked very colty, gelded now and is very much suited over 1400m fresh. He has been kept relatively fresh at the trials and maps to settle on the leader’s back here.

(2) Gus The Great races on the quick back-up on his home track, he was sound last time out in a strong race but looks under the odds here.

(4) Alphard is next best second-up rising in trip.

Selections:

(3) Sarapo
(2) Gus The Great
(4) Alphard

Suggested Bet: Win (3) Sarapo

Race 2:

Competitive 2yo race with some well bred gallopers making their debuts.

Keen to attack the race with (4) Wolf Gap on top, the 2yo colt has shown good ability in both hit outs with the latest the pick when extending beautifully down the outside at Canterbury.

The well bred (8) Naadra hasn’t run time in her trials but I’ve loved her push button mannerism, right in this.

(3) Lorax draws well on debut and has done enough at the trials without raving.

(2) Inner Gold worked well back to the inside there at Warwick Farm in his latest trial, in the mix.

Selections:

(4) Wolf Gap
(8) Naadra
(3) Lorax
(2) Inner Gold

Suggested Bet: Win (4) Wolf Gap and (8) Naadra

Race 3:

Complete race in two overall here.

(3) Nazwah gave away race fitness first-up before swallowing up Straand Beauty who set a strong tempo up front. Nazwah has fitness to come and I like the 23 days between runs after that significant first-up win.

(2) Straand Beauty will likely look to turn this into a tactical affair in the small field, peak fitness and keeps Nash in the saddle.

Outside of that, (5) Silencio Porfavor has the ability to win but can mix his form.

(4) The Escape is next best.

Selections:

(3) Nazwah
(2) Straand Beauty
(5) Silencio Porfavor
(4) The Escape

Suggested Bet: Win (3) Nazwah

Race 4:

Good race this. The Chris Waller trained duo Tarzing and Crossbow have caught my eye in recent weeks.

(6) Tarzing has been progressive in back to back career wins, both in unsuitable run races. He has had 35 days off and rises to 1400m from a lovely map, on top.

(3) Crossbow is the big watch, 3kg claim on first-up while tackling 1400m tells me he’s ready to win.

(8) Sarrismo will land out in front and have a strong map advantage, the lightly raced gelding will lap up the firm conditions but tends to find one better in his races.

The ultra consistent (1) Zulfiqar rises to 1400m where he is unbeaten, another winning chance.

Selections:

(6) Tarzing
(3) Crossbow
(8) Sarrismo
(1) Zulfiqar

Suggested Bet: No bet.

Race 5:

Another complete race in two and another race which lacks speed.

I like the setup here for (2) Lancelot Du Lac, he threw his head off and bolted on Clark last start in town when the shades went on. He gets blinkers off now, and the cross over nose band on. Drops sharply in class and looks the sole leader.

No knock at all on (5) Decorum other than his price, classy return when easily taking care of his rivals, he’ll find leader’s back and get his chance.

(1) Tazima is the only other winning chance, smart use of the claim and should be suited over 1600m.

(6) Sirius Legend has ability but needs gelding.

Selections:

(2) Lancelot Du Lac
(5) Decorum
(1) Tazima
(6) Sirius Legend

Suggested Bet: No bet.

Race 6:

The staying event of the program.

(8) Doradus will need some luck to offset the wide gate but does have solid tactical speed. Peak fitness deep into the prep and looks well placed.

(4) Stylebender gets in light with the claim and maps ideally from barrier two.

(11) De Louviere has been met with some solid early market support, another who maps ideally and in these even staying races, that’s key.

(10) Twisted Love rounds out the numbers coming off a strong last start win.

Selections:

(8) Doradus
(4) Stylebender
(11) De Louviere
(10) Twisted Love

Suggested Bet: No bet.

Race 7:

A race which has been hit with solid scratchings.

Not a whole lot of speed up front which suits (6) Long Legs down to the ground, smart fresh winner last time in and has again trialled up well.

(10) Snitzel Dancer is the big danger, the slow tempo over 1200m fresh didn’t suit, straight to 1400m and in the small field can settle much closer.

(9) Profoundly looks to need all of the 1400m here first-up looking at her trials, she gets an aggressive jockey on board with Clark taking the ride, that’s key.

(7) Autumn Dream is next best but has trialled up only fairly.

Selections:

(6) Long Legs
(10) Snitzel Dancer
(9) Profoundly
(7) Autumn Dream

Suggested Bet: No bet.
