Turf Talk:
- +5m 1000m-W/Post, +3m remainder. Tempo is key overall.
- History suggests lanes 2–4 in the straight are superior with this dry track expected.
Stats That Matter:
- Over the past 90 days Jason Collett is striking at 25.7% with a positive POT of +21.5%.
- John Sargent is the stable to follow over the past 90 days up to $10 SP, striking at 26.1% with a POT of +15.2%. He is effective with runners first and second up.
Race 1 – 5. Decorum 2. Scoop The Pool 3. Attica 8. Tuscany
Wide-open affair to kick off proceedings. (5) Decorum goes on top for the Michael Freedman camp. The well-bred 3yo looked good late in both trials, and 1400m on debut is perfect. (2) Scoop The Pool has caught the market’s eye with McDonald booked, sound debut, but the latest trial was only fair time-wise when hard-ridden. Keep an eye on (3) Attica for the market/parade watch. (8) Tuscany brings race fitness, was well-backed last start at Hawkesbury, and looks ready to tackle 1400m. Hyeronimus sticking from the trials is a nice push also.
Suggested Bet – Decorum EW
Race 2 – 4. Ohope 3. Cantiamo 1. Regulated Affair 8. Surf’s Up
As strong as you’ll find for a midweek BM64, with plenty of progressive 3yos engaged. (4) Ohope has to go on top, smart debut win, taking care of a solid field with ease and throttled down over the last 50m. Perfectly placed up to 1200m. (3) Cantiamo’s win was full of merit first-up; sit-and-sprint style and inferior wide lanes didn’t suit. The dry track here and added fitness are big ticks. (1) Regulated Affair gets in light with the 3kg claim of Siena Grima, gate 3 suits, as does the dry deck. (8) Surf’s Up around $11 looks a touch big off smart trials, expect her to be flashing late.
Suggested Bet – No Bet
Race 3 – 8. Exclusive Artist 3. Island Dream 5. Johnny The Kid 6. Iceman 7. Christa
Another wide open contest, with a lot of recent form coming on heavy decks. (8) Exclusive Artist second-up, wasn’t suited fresh on heavy ground and should appreciate firmer footing plus the 2kg claim. (3) Island Dream brings superior form but the $2.10 quote looks short. (5) Johnny The Kid has been a savage early-market drifter but peaks third-up on the quick back-up. (6) Iceman and (7) Christa consistent and in the mix.
Suggested Bet – No Bet
Race 4 – 4. Tuileries 5. Hurry Miss 1. Ring True 8. Just A Journey
Not a whole lot of speed to report up front here, which is key. Exciting BM72 with plenty of angles, (6) Mergeila again comes out (again) due to the wide barrier. Expect the Peter Snowden-trained (5) Tuileries to improve sharply back on a firm track, gate 5 is another strong positive factor. (4) Hurry Miss put up a huge margin last start, recording back-to-back wins. The penny has dropped, but will she be as sharp on top of the ground? The UK import (1) Ring True is a market watch late.
Suggested Bet – Tuileries WIN
Race 5 – 5. Frontex 7. Starman 9. The Replicant 10. Dimitrov
Average tempo expected up front. (5) Frontex on top, sharp first-up winner showing tactical speed and suited again second-up back to a dry track. (7) Starman has opened favourite but last win was Jan 2022 — well-placed back in grade, but risky. (9) The Replicant 4/44 overall but loves running into the placings, fit and gets Nash. (10) Dimitrov peaks now third-up and maps well.
Suggested Bet – No Bet
Race 6 – 6. Elle Hudson 10. Sting In The Tail 5. Coto De Caza 8. Majorian
Staying even of the program. No surprise to see the fit, in-from (6) Elle-Hudson come up as a firm favourite. Back-to-back career-peak figures, now returning to her home deck, the one to beat. Can (10) Sting In The Tail replicate recent form back on top of the ground? She’ll need a good ride from the draw, racing on a quick back-up. (5) Coto De Caza looks best suited in a wet-to-dry set-up, all three career wins and 7/8 placings have come on firm decks. Any late market support must be respected. (8) Majorian rounds out the numbers.
Suggested Bet – No Bet
Race 7 – 8. Shalaa Gold 2. Prima Bella 7. Pallaton 10. King Of Dragons
Fascinating finish. (8) Shalaa Gold game last start in the slop, now back to dry ground with James. (2) Prima Bella closed off well from inferior ground, maps for a sweet run. (7) Pallaton short in the market at $2.70, likely to drift. (10) King Of Dragons off two smart trials, 1000m may be short but has ability.
Suggested Bet – Shalaa Gold WIN
