Race 1
(3) Ertijaaj there has been plenty of early support ahead of her Australian debut. She has jumped out well and made a decent debut at Haydock in the UK before being sent here.
(6) Dame Florence raced on pace and ran second at the Lakeside track last start. That was a nice improvement from her first start, and she must be respected.
(2) North Dakota finished the race off well in the same race Dame Florence comes through last start. Expect her to be ridden cold.
(4) Pari Moi hasn’t quite run a rating good enough to win this if the leading chances run to form, but gives herself every chance by racing on speed.
Selections:
(3) Ertijaaj
(6) Dame Florence
(2) North Dakota
(4) Pari Moi
Race 2
(10) Ornos best figures have all come at Moonee Valley, so the tight-turning nature of the Heath track may be suitable. Has been plain this preparation, but has figures from last campaign that can win this.
(7) Flowerdale talented, but doesn’t possess much gate speed. Had been in good form before two starts ago where he had an issue, then never got into the race last start. Can bounce back.
(8) Cardi Bee will be forced to work across from the wide draw and needs to improve.
(4) Blue Cowboy raced wide on resumption and can improve for that run.
Selections:
(10) Ornos
(7) Flowerdale
(8) Cardi Bee
(4) Blue Cowboy
Race 3
(8) Morning Whisper was well supported on debut in the Merson Cooper Stakes and ran well without threatening. Most recent trial was impressive and by far the fastest 800-metre trial of the morning.
(2) Free Flying will be difficult to get past from a good draw, but both jump-outs have been the slowest of the morning. That doesn’t mean she can’t win.
(1) Crank finished quickly on a heavy track on debut, though the price looks short.
(3) Obambulate jumped out well.
Selections:
(8) Morning Whisper
(2) Free Flying
(1) Crank
(3) Obambulate
Suggested bet: Morning Whisper (8)
Race 4
(2) Autumn Slide has been good this preparation without winning, doing plenty of work first-up and then finishing hard to run third behind Terilee. Can peak here.
(10) Aura settled close to a strong speed last start and ran to a peak. May settle last in this.
(8) Pula consistent and makes her own luck on pace.
(3) On Broadway won a race that fell to pieces last start. Can win again.
Selections:
(2) Autumn Slide
(10) Aura
(8) Pula
(3) On Broadway
Race 5
(7) Parvenu settled last in a farcically paced race and finished well despite the race not suiting. Nine furlongs suits and can settle closer.
(3) Buthelezi makes Victorian debut for Moody and Coleman after finishing fifth in the WA Guineas behind King Of Light.
(9) There Were Roses won dynamically with a turn of speed, which probably isn’t her main asset. Will be ridden cold from the wide draw.
(4) Kalmana finished midfield in a Listed race in South Australia last start, which reads well for this.
Selections:
(7) Parvenu
(3) Buthelezi
(9) There Were Roses
(4) Kalmana
Race 6
(9) Tres Magnifique highly progressive and appropriately priced at odds-on.
(3) One Hard Lady best suited over five furlongs and can hold the rail from barrier two.
(1) Jennyanydots won at this course and distance two starts ago.
Selections:
(9) Tres Magnifique
(3) One Hard Lady
(1) Jennyanydots
Race 7
(2) Aqueduct has been scintillating since returning to 1000 metres and can hold a forward position from the inside draw.
(9) Mainmankash rapid over the first 800 metres and could improve sharply if finding the lead.
(5) Aleppo Pine had an issue last start in a strong form race where he was well fancied.
(4) Along The River very consistent at this level.
Selections:
(2) Aqueduct
(9) Mainmankash
(5) Aleppo Pine
(4) Along The River
Suggested bet: Small bet Aqueduct (2)
Race 8
(14) Milos Filos best-performed horse in the race and was ridden cold at Mornington last start. Can settle closer and improve with Beau Mertens aboard.
(7) Cattle Camp ran nice sectionals to win stylishly on debut.
(4) Invincible Woman highly talented.
Selections:
(14) Milos Filos
(7) Cattle Camp
(4) Invincible Woman
Suggested bet: Small bet Milos Filos (14)
