Sir Delius left it late, but was impressive in victory. Hear from the beaten jockeys what they thought of their race and what it means moving forward.
Blake Shinn (Buckaroo): “He was very gallant in defeat. Had a nice run, presented to win, hit the front – probably put a half-length on the winner – but it just found back. He ran great, he’s on track for the Cups and a good effort today.”
John Allen (Smokin’ Romans): “I thought he went well enough. Probably looking for further now and probably something a little bit easier but I thought he acquitted himself quite well.”
Luke Nolen (Desert Lightning): “We had a lovely run, he just failed to see the 1800 out at this level.”
Billy Egan (Casino Seventeen): “Good run. Something over a bit further and maybe a grade below, but otherwise a good run.”
Michael Dee (Land Legend): “Land Legend was great today. It’s just about getting the first half right with him, and settled, and he hit the line nicely.”
Mark Zahra (Middle Earth): “He went good, just looking for further.”
Jordan Childs (Golden Path): “Very proud of him. He ran as well as he could. He’s been beaten by two pretty good horses and he’s on the up.”
Damian Lane (Moira): “Little disappointing today. She travelled great in the run but I don’t think she let down as well on the firmer surface.”
Jamie Melham (Zardozi): “She was alright. She was just a bit flat. First-up she was really sharp and today she had a big task from how far back she was, but still a little bit flat I thought.”
Ben Melham (Anisette): “Ran OK, he’s just looking for more give in the ground.”
