The fog played havoc with Monday’s Cranbourne jump-outs, making a large portion of the morning impossible to properly assess, but there were still several horses that caught the eye.
We got a visual of the first couple of heats before the fog moved in and made heats four through thirteen impossible to assess. Thankfully, conditions cleared enough later in the morning to get a look at the final few heats.
Heat 2 – Blind Raise
This bloke made an instant impression in his two-year-old season, winning on debut at Sandown before taking out the Anzac Day Stakes at Flemington. He was disappointing in the Sires’ Produce in Queensland, but may have simply been over the top by that stage of the campaign.
He looks to have returned in brilliant order judging by this jump-out win. He sat outside Obambulate and put that galloper to the sword under his own steam. They ran much quicker time than Zambardo, who took out the opening heat.

Heat 3 – Tres Magnifique
No prizes for finding this mare as she always trials well, but this was another outstanding bit of work. She posted fast time under light riding and put a big space on her rivals.
First-up over 1000m is the time to catch her. She will go like shit off a shovel fresh.

Heat 13 – Smoky Kitchen
Very nice filly, this. She won a jump-out last campaign, beating the handy Keen Observer under her own steam, with a big gap back to third.
Loved how she moved in this heat, her first outing of the preparation. She may need another jump-out before she debuts, but expect her to make her presence felt when she does.

Heat 15 – Dirty Look
Ran good time for the 1000m heats. This lightly raced mare did a good job in her first campaign and looks to have come back better heading into her four-year-old season.
She responded well to light riding to win this heat, spreading her rivals in behind. It was her second jump-out of the campaign, with the first being a lovely, soft piece of work.
She is a 65-rater, so can find a BM66, or something similar, to kick off her campaign in winning style.
