Betsy’s resident Queensland form guru Blair ‘Gibbo’ Gibson takes a look back at action from Doomben on Saturday. He separates the wheat from the chaff to deliver nothing but coming winners.

Tough meeting to get a great guide out of. We were at a SOFT 6 for four races, a SOFT 5 for three races, a GOOD 4 for one race and then to a SOFT 7 for the last couple.

Just one of those days where it was hard to really have confidence betting early on horses who specifically  need either a wet or dry track to show their best.

I can say that unless our locals pick their game up shortly the interstate trainers will win everything this carnival. The Keith Noud feature was a horribly weak race.

ZIP LOCK (race 1) – It’s not just the strike rate of the Munce stable and the form of Martin Harley on their horses, the amazing thing is how long the run is lasting! This horse changed strides a couple of times but flattened out like a good horse and ended up winning with the ears pricked. Heaps of upside and can win another if he stays in work.

VANDEVELDE (race 3) – This was one of the best value bets in the preview, but it was severely inconvenienced at the jump and had to go back to last. They didn’t run along up front and that made the task impossible. I thought the run had merit and there are wins in store for this horse.

SHE’S EXOTIC (race 9) – I keep backing the wrong horses in this stable, zigging when I should be zagging. This mare was outstanding here. Looked to have too big of a task but she picked them up and spat them out. Has won 6 of 9 and seems to really enjoy soft ground.
