One of the picks of the boys. We had to wait until the last heat to see this smart colt hit the track. Fast overall time and a very quick L600m, which featured his smart turn of speed. He sat back in the heat with Lloyd aboard before being asked to hit the line. He picked up the bridle sharply and extended away very professionally. Loved his work past the line too.

2. OUT OF BOUNDS – Heat 5 (Overall 48.90 / L600 – 32.86)
Colt – Stay Inside x Giulia

There were whispers this was the pick of the Baker-trained 2YOs, and he definitely lived up to it with a very easy win in very fast time. He showed lovely gate speed to ping the lids and cross before clicking up through his gears professionally. Never asked for a supreme effort and looked to go to the line with plenty to offer. Physically, he looked like a beast too. Do note Rachel King was in the saddle and she is one of the lighter jockeys.
3. SHEZABLAZE – Heat 2 (Overall 49.53 / L600 – 33.34)
Filly – Capitalist x Blazing Miss

Very fast overall time, and this is key to note as it was the second trial of the morning and it was a Soft 5 track. The heats got faster as the day went on, with the track copping an upgrade with the sun and wind around. She looked sharp, speedy and with a good mind on her. Loved how straight she went and her late strength. She’s a nice filly.

One of the sneaky trials of the morning. Not the typical front-running trial, but I dare say this colt went as good as the winner in Out Of Bounds. Strung up for a run and looked to be bolting, he only got out with 100m to go and extended well. Lovely-looking trial and a sneaky one we can follow.

Comes through the equal-fastest trial of the morning. Another Waterhouse & Bott galloper who landed off speed but found the line well late. I want to make note of her work at the 150m when jockey Adam Hyeronimus clicked her up. She quickly grabbed the bit and found plenty, going to the line hard held. She looks a type who, under race-day pressure, can improve sharply.

Second-fastest overall time and L600m time. A smart on-speed type who is bred to get out in trip. He showed enough gate speed to lead the field up before working well throughout the trial. He was a lot of talk though and may come up short race day.

Definition of a professional 2YO colt. Sat handy just in behind the speed before quickly finding the front in the straight under a grip from McDonald. The overall time and L600m weren’t there, but he wasn’t let out of second gear. Looks a lovely physical type too.
