Go Bloodstock will target Royal Ascot with Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot in 2026.
Sir Owen Glenn bred the star Written Tycoon four-year-old, which has had a frustrating run of placings in nine races since the 2024 Golden Slipper.
She has only missed the first three once in the period, when fourth in The Everest won by Bella Nipotina in 2024, while being a Surround Stakes runner-up and placed in the Coolmore Classic and Coolmore Stud Stakes.
They sit alongside a second in the Blue Diamond as a two-year-old at also Group 1 level.
“It would be a watershed moment for the brand of Go Bloodstock to have a Royal Ascot runner and given what Lady Of Camelot has already done, there is only upside in taking her there,” Go Bloodstock director Steve O’Connor told Betsy.
“It’s the only real way to increase her value as a Golden Slipper winner, and we would look at Royal Ascot and perhaps the July Cup.”
“There is also the benefit of being over there and possibly going to a stallion like Dubawi or Frankel, who don’t come out to Australia.”
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have Lady Of Camelot back in the stable along with Go’s Turnbull Stakes winner Sir Delius, and both will be seen at the barrier trials towards the end of January.
Lady Of Camelot would certainly run in the King Charles III Stakes, formerly the King’s Stand, on the first day of the Royal meeting, won by Asfoora in 2024. It also has Nature Strip, Scenic Blast, Miss Andretti, Takeover Target and Choisir on its honour roll.
She could back-up to the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on the final day and attempt to emulate Choisir’s double in 2003. It was famously won by Black Caviar in 2012, while Starspangledbanner and Merchant Navy are other Australian sprinters to taste Royal success in the main sprint of the week.
“Her whole campaign is going to be designed around getting to Royal Ascot,” O’Connor said.
“We will look at races like the Canterbury Stakes, TJ Smith and All Aged Stakes, but everything will be about going to Royal Ascot.”
“We will be guided by Gai and Adrian, what is the right program to have her at her best in England.”
“It would be a wonderful achievement for Sir Owen to have a filly he bred and races go to Royal Ascot as a Golden Slipper winner, I don’t think that has been done before.”
“We have a lot of the family, so there is a lot of upside in it for the business, should she win over there.”
