Turf Talk:
- Kilmore is a unique track with a significant downhill run as they come around the home bend then an uphill straight. Plenty of horses don’t handle it, so ‘Kilmore form’ can be worth noting.
- It’s a momentum track. Those on speed generally have an edge, but provided jockeys get their horse rolling down the hill, they can make ground.
- The 1200m start is the best on the track, with a good run down the back straight before they start turning.
- The 1400m start is precarious, with runners turning shortly after they jump, so position in running is crucial.
- Showers and high winds are forecast throughout the day – a northerly which is into their face down the back straight. Cover might be valuable. Going to be testing conditions.
- They have been getting wide in the straight at recent meetings and expect that to again be the case.

Best bet of the day: Race 7 Keen (3) Bossy Star, something small (4) Never A Thought
Like (3) Bossy Star. He was just fair to the eye first up but that was a much stronger race and he was in the inferior ground. Drops way back in grade here and gets onto his preferred rain-affected going. Maps for a nice trial.
(4) Never A Thought had absolutely no luck fresh at Echuca. Doubt the wider draw will be an issue, especially late in the day. Won on rain affected going. Right in the game.
Not sure leading/gate one will be ideal come race seven and that’s the assignment for the favourite (2) Got Out The Fence. That said, he’s racing well and no issue dropping back 100m.
Suggested bet: Keen Bossy Star, small save Never A Thought.
