Summary of Best Bets

Best Bet: Race 6 No.2 See Ya Later Baby

Next Best: Race 5 No.1 Eclair Vitality

Turf Talk

  • The track is rated at a Soft 6 but with clear weather conditions forecast expecting to potentially see upgrades on that rating
  • The rail moves out +3m the entire circuit.
  • Balaklava can favour on-speed runners in dry conditions, particularly when the rail is out.

Key Stats

  • Luke O’Connor only brings the one runner to this meeting but his team is in strong form having won 14 of their last 100 runners at a POT of +77.1%.
  • Brooke King has been a profitable apprentice for punters to follow recently, she has ridden 10 winners in her last 100 starters at a strong POT return of +47.1%, she is booked for 6 rides here today.

Race by race overview

Race 1

(7) Kohala has placed in his last 2 starts including a tight finish last time over this same track/distance set up. This race is very similar, and he is proven at the distance, should be every chance again.

(5) Captain Love should be an improver fitter 2nd up today and rising to a suitable distance, he can settle in a forward position which could prove an advantage.

(9) Taken On Faith went well enough last start in a stronger race that suggests she will be suited back down in grade here, at peak fitness and running well over similar distances.

(11) Lillikins hit the line well last start and is rising in distance today, she again gets in with a lightweight thanks to an apprentice claim which should help her be strong late.

Selections:
(7) Kohala
(5) Captain Love
(9) Taken On Faith
(11) Lillikins

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 2

(1) Leliyn was impressive when he resumed over this same track/distance set up two weeks ago, he rated highly there, and this race doesn’t appear to be any harder. If he can find a level of improvement he should prove hard to beat.

(4) Golden Tunes resumes today, he showed good speed in his debut campaign and could get race map favours in this if the track favours on speed types as he looks likely to get the run of the race.

(7) Silent Legacy ran into the placings on debut and went straight to the paddock, kicks off again here and he maps for an ideal run from a low barrier.

(14) Iroquai resumes for the 2nd preparation of her career as a 4YO mare, she didn’t show a great deal in her debut runs but they were stronger races than this and she improved enough to win a recent trial

Selections:
(1) Leliyn
(4) Golden Tunes
(7) Silent Legacy
(14) Iroquai

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 3

This is a very competitive Maiden with a few taking steps back from Saturday level.

(1) Discreetly Blue looks ready to step up to the 1400m here today, 3rd up into this prep, he has been consistent this prep and gets a favourable map here today.

(7) Flying Brant made a good impression on debut at this track, he showed early speed and was only caught late, can take improvement out of that debut and go one better.

(13) Mahaler has run into 2nd in both of her runs so far into her career, drawn wide on debut and maybe not ideally suited last start, she rises in distance and gets to a track that may give her a better set up.

(10) Yarrawizardharry has been competitive in 2 stronger Maidens in his last pair of runs, he may find this easier and can race prominently on speed, set up looks suitable for him here today.

Selections:
(1) Discreetly Blue
(7) Flying Brant
(13) Mahaler
(10) Yarrawizardharry

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 4

(2) Santasia has been consistent since joining her new stable here in SA having placed in 4 of 5 starts. She has good early speed which should suit here and looks close to a breakthrough, needs some luck from the wide barrier.

(9) Fiabesca resumes here, she may have improvement to come over more ground but maps for a soft run out of a low barrier and should settle in a good position.

(11) Rich Lady hit the line strongly at this track last start, if she can settle closer in the run today and finish off in a similar way she may prove hard to hold out.

Expecting improvement from (5) Winny Bee who resumed here recently finishing midfield. He gets a lighter weight here today which can suit and will be fitter 2nd up now.

Selections:
(2) Santasia
(9) Fiabesca
(11) Rich Lady
(15) Winny Bee

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 5

(1) Eclair Vitality ran into the placings in a stronger race at Morphettville last start, he hit the line strongly so looks ready for a rise in trip here today and is suited down in grade.

(8) Artissi has run into the placings in her last 2 starts, her best form is over this 1200m trip and she gets a softer race map than some key rivals.

(7) All Shot contested a stronger race in his last start and should likely be suited dropping in grade, he can set up well in the run jumping from barrier 3

(5) Here Comes Hogan looks likely to get an ideal run jumping from barrier 1, he has mixed his form in recent runs but is much better suited on wet ground which should suit.

Selections:
(1) Eclair Vitality
(8) Artissi
(7) All Shot
(5) Here Comes Hogan

Suggested Bet: Eclair Vitality WIN

Race 6

(2) See Ya Later Baby took a step up in grade and distance in his last start, he may have felt the pinch late in that run so feel he is better suited here back to the 1400m trip, he gets a soft race map and should settle on speed.

(7) Chillcuz was well supported last start in a race stronger than this, he looks suited coming back in level today but may be up for a tough run early from the wide barrier.

(9) Our Sassy Lady makes her debut for a new stable today, she sets up well from barrier 2 so expecting a forward showing

(5) Lucky Fortuna can push forwards and find the lead which is expected to suit at this track, in conditions that favour her she could prove competitive in this race at good odds.

Selections:
(2) See Ya Later Baby
(7) Chillcuz
(9) Our Sassy Lady
(5) Lucky Fortuna

Suggested Bet: See Ya Later Baby WIN

Race 7

(10) Morlaix has hit the line strongly in her last 2 starts to run 2nd in both of those runs. There maps to be plenty of speed from outside her so she may get a chance to swoop over the top late.

(13) Night Cruiser has good early speed and if he can cross from the wide barrier he looks likely to land in an ideal position.

(7) Vee Rod had good success at Kangaroo Island and has found form now, he has a good record at this track and distance so can build on his good form.

With majority of the runners with speed drawn out wide, it may set up for (4) Crown And Anchor to get the run of the race here up on speed which will likely suit at this track.

Selections:
(10) Morlaix
(13) Night Cruiser
(7) Vee Rod
(4) Crown And Anchor

Suggested Bet: No bet
