Turf Talk
- The track is currently rated a Heavy 8. There are more showers forecast early in the week, but race day is set to be clear. Working off the track being well into the Soft range and at least close to a heavy if not on race day.
- The rail moves out slightly from the previous meeting and will be +3m W/Post–1550m, +5m 950m–450m, +3m 450m–W/Post and True the Remainder.
- In similar conditions at the most recent meetings here, the track played evenly, with runners winning from a variety of positions in run and winners coming from a variety of lanes in the straight. The track should again play evenly.
Stats That Matter

- Harry Grace is riding consistent winners, with 12 from his last 100 rides, but at a negative return for punters of -40.1%.

Race 1
(8) Swan Dance
(1) Dexter Dream
(2) Kohala
(7) Celeman Zor
(8) Swan Dance has been competitive in all runs throughout her career, having never missed the placings, including a third last start in a stronger Saturday-level race. She should find this a solid drop in grade and maps for a positive run with a light weight, so should prove tough to catch. (1) Dexter Dream comes out of the same last-start race and will be another runner suited back down in grade. Jumping from barrier 2 can give him a good run and a chance to improve. (2) Kohala has mixed his form in recent runs. He has placed twice over this track and distance range previously and could be strong late if a fast speed is put into the race. (7) Celeman Zor hasn’t shown a lot in two recent runs but looks a runner looking for a staying trip and gets that here. He can start to improve this prep.
Suggested Bet: (8) Swan Dance – Win
Race 2
(5) Healthandhappiness
(3) A Time To Kill
(4) Cadia Valley
(6) Regimented
(5) Healthandhappiness showed improvement to run into the placings here last start. He looks one of the key speed influences of the race and gets an ideal run from a low barrier. He can handle the rise in trip with the right run. (3) A Time To Kill put in a strong effort to place last week and should appreciate rising in distance, as he may look to go back from the wide barrier and do his best work late in the run. (4) Cadia Valley is on debut and has shown talent at the jumpouts. He looks well suited jumping from barrier 3, so expecting a strong first-up run. (6) Regimented finished midfield on debut and can be an improver here today with a better race map early. Getting in light at the weights after a claim, expect he will finish closer.
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 3
(7) Extra Chill
(8) Illustrates
(4) Strong Minded
(10) Regal Time
(7) Extra Chill is first-up off a long spell but showed good talent throughout her debut prep. She was solid in a recent trial and maps for a positive run in a race with a moderate tempo, so should be capable of a winning return. (8) Illustrates resumes and has a lightweight against her rivals after a 3kg claim. She has previously shown good early speed, so looks the likely leader, which could suit. (4) Strong Minded was modest when resuming in a harder race at Morphettville but also may not have appreciated the Heavy track. He can improve today in better conditions. (10) Regal time looks well suited jumping from barrier 1 and can settle handy early in the run, with a light weight after an apprentice claim she can tick along and give them something to chase

Race 4
(1) Trade Game
(7) Justadexter
(3) Jasstar
(2) Little One
(1) Trade Game won a Saturday-level maiden in impressive fashion last start and now looks capable of taking the next step up in grade, given he gets an ideal run up on the speed. He rates highly and has a big weight but should prove tough to catch in this grade. It is a race with little early speed, which could see (7) Justadexter land in a strong position in the run and, after a 3kg claim, she gets a big weight advantage on her rivals. She could run them along quickly if she handles the conditions. (3) Jasstar resumes and showed her talent when winning her last start before a break. If she has any improvement from her debut campaign, she could threaten at this level. (2) Little One has found strong form on the dirt tracks of Port Augusta in recent runs. If he can transfer that form back onto the turf, he will be competitive.
Suggested Bet: (1) Trade Game – Win
Race 5
(3) Impending Diamond
(1) Costless
(2) Prodigal Lad
(6) Kushan Khanivale
(3) Impending Diamond was a winner in a similar race to this earlier in the prep before competing in two stronger races in her last couple, including a midweek effort at Sandown last time. She returns to a track where she is undefeated and sets up to find winning form again down in grade. (1) Costless returns to a track where he has had success throughout his career. He maps to lead in this and gets that run softly from barrier 2, so could prove tough to catch. (2) Prodigal Lad was a winner first-up before failing in a stronger race at Morphettville last start. He can bounce back down in grade and at a track and distance set-up he has won over previously. (6) Kushan Khanivale is next. He has mixed his form recently but has endured tough runs from wide barriers in his last couple of starts. He maps much better here today, which will help him improve on recent form.
Suggested Bet: (3) Impending Diamond – Win
Race 6
(2) Whatsanamegeorge
(3) Kailee’s Boy
(11) Unisphere
(7) Jackson Run
(3) Whatsanamegeorge has been contesting similar-grade races recently and finally showed some improvement last start when on debut for a new stable. He returns to a track where he has won previously and rising back up in distance looks ideal. (3) Kailee’s Boy was a winner two starts back in a race that has since produced good form but had excuses for a poor run last start. He returns to a track where he has a good record, so can bounce back. (11) Unisphere improved into the placings last start and looks ready for a rise in distance. He maps for a soft run from barrier 1, which gives him his best chance. (7) Jackson Run may have to work early from a wide barrier but if he gets the right run, he is a potential improver on recent form dropping down in grade here.
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 7
(1) Je City
(11) Limbering
(3) Galloping Guru
(8) Spelman
(1) Je City ran a close second behind an in-form runner last start at Murray Bridge. He may find this a slightly easier race, so if he can find improvement third-up now, he should be the one to beat. (11) Limbering looks a key speed influence of the race and gets in light at the weights after a 3kg claim, so could be suited out in front here and prove tough to run down. (3) Galloping Guru has mixed his form of late but showed sharp improvement last start when placing at a huge price at this track. He is drawn well and should be suited at the 1400m based on that last-start performance. (8) Spelman finished well down the track last start but is better suited dropping in grade for this and has a good record on a heavy track.
