Horses To Follow Murray Bridge 20/12

THE SPRINKLER (R3 1200m BM68)

THE SPRINKLER was first-up for this race today. He looked to be travelling well during the race running the fastest 400m-200m split of the race before fading out late and finish 4th. Post-race he was found to be showing signs of heat stress which may have had a part to play in his late race fade out. He improved to win 2nd up last prep so with improved fitness 2nd up and no issues next start he could be an improver.

CARPE ASTRA & NORHEIM (R5 1000m Maiden)

Two maidens from race 5 I am keen to put in the blackbook going forwards. CARPE ASTRA was on debut and well supported in the market considering a short price favourite was in the race. She jumped out and found the lead and was asked to travel at an above class average tempo and was then quite green in the run, she will take good improvement out of this race. NORHEIM has been competitive in recent Maidens and looks close to a breakthrough. He copped some bad interference at the top of the straight from the eventual winner which didn’t help his case off a very slow tempo. Once he straightened up he ran the 2nd quickest L200m of the race, look for improvement when we see him next.

Trial & Jump out eye catchers

There were plenty of trials and jumpouts at Morphettville and Strathalbyn this week but nothing in the replays jumps right out to be following at this stage. Will be keen to see a few more have another run at the trials before reporting.
