Horses to follow: Morphettville Saturday, February 7
Race 2 (1050m BM62) – Intellectual
While it may have been a disappointing result for backers of Intellectual who was well supported into favouritism, Ill be happy to give him another chance in his next run off this. He appeared to have every chance in the straight to go past eventual winner Violet Lovebug but couldn’t get past the horse who is deeper into the prep and fitter. Intellectual was coming into this 1st up off the 1 trial and over raced in the early stages of the race, feel fitness gave out on him but he will be better for the run 2nd up with the extra fitness he should gain from this run.
Race 9 (1050m BM66) – Hooked On Wealth
Hooked On Wealth was resuming here off a freshen up since we last saw him at the races in The Riziz Final back in November. You generally know what you get with him as he is a get back type but has a slick turn of foot which was on display here with him producing the fastest L600m of the meeting to only just miss catching the favourite Daisydoo on the line. Looking for him up in distance 2nd up off what was an eye-catching resuming run.
Trail & Jump out eye catchers
Morphettville February 3: Jump Out #7 – Vercelli
This is the 2nd week in a row we have seen Vercelli jump out impressively, this time she settled midfield in the run and look to stride out with good authority to run past rivals. She led the field up last week so this piece of work was good to see her under some more pressure. We have seen Vercelli at the races once previously here in the state where she had some excuses in the run and went straight back out for a spell.
Murray Bridge February 5: Jump Out #6 – Word Game
The winner of this trial was Noble Letter who won another last week and looks ready to get to the races, but it was Word Game in behind him here that caught the eye. He did get a favourable run up on the ran but strode out nicely after settling back and was hitting the line well with Noble Letter. The pair put a good margin on the rest of the field but felt perhaps Word Game was the one under less riding pressure at the line.
