Horses To Follow – Murray Bridge October 11
Race 1 Golden Horizon & Snallygaster
Following two runners out of this race. Virtual Illusion was again a very impressive winner and looks to have upside, but the runners in behind him look to be able to build into their preps off these runs.
Golden Horizon was 1st up having won in his debut prep. He came in with only one official trial and still managed to run the 3rd fastest L600m of the meeting in this. He ran into a handy runner here but should come out improved and fitter for this run.
The race was run at a quick tempo and debutant Snallygaster raced up on the quick speed with the leader, and still managed to stick on quite well to finish 3rd, for his first career run, to be met with that quick tempo and still be solid through the line indicates he has some talent.
Race 4 Cotehele
Cotehele had his 2nd run for the Hickmott team off a six-week freshen up since his debut. He hit the line well in this 1200m race, running the fastest L600m & L400m sectionals of this race. Suggest he looks well placed rising in trip next start off this run given his 4 career wins have come over distances of 1300m & 1500m, perhaps a Gawler Cup over the 1500m in the next 2 weeks could be right in his sweet zone.
Trail & Jump out eye catchers
Morphettville – October 7
Heat #6 Vercelli- An ex Paul Messara & Leah Gavranich-trained Arrowfield runner who is now in the hands of Travis Doudle. She perhaps has had her issues previously in her career but strode out impressively to win this trial. She is a well bred type and if the stable have her right, you would think she can easily go on to win at maiden level.
Heat #8 Norheim- A Richard & Chantelle Jolly maiden for the Price Bloodstock team. He clearly has improvement to give given the fact he missed the kick badly but quickly mustered up to catch the field and run past them all to win this heat. Will be better for this jump out but his speed was eye catching.
Strathalbyn – October 9
J/Out #3 Sghirripa- Group level runner Sghirripa put away rivals easily as expected in this trial but looked in very good order through the line. His stablemate Queman ran a similar performance at the trials here last week and came out to run 5th in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday. Sghirripa looks to be coming back in a similar order.
J/Out #4 It’sanotherbattle- Yet to debut for the Shane & Cassie Oxlade stable, but this was the 2nd time we have seen her put a huge margin on rivals given she recently won a trial at Murray Bridge trial by 7.5L. She has put in two huge trial performances now and looks ready to get to the races.
