Summary of Best Bets
- Best Bet: Race 5 (3) Mauna Kea Miss
- Next Best: Race 7 (10) Bajaria
Turf Talk
- The track is currently rated a Good 4 but there are some showers forecast to potentially hit the track at some stage, depending on the amount of rai n that hits we could see a downgrade but not expecting any worse than a Soft 6
- The rail pushes out from the previous meeting and will be +5m the entire circuit.
- Expecting the track will likely play off rails if the showers do hit the track so giving a slight advantage to runners who settle forwards of midfield
Stats that matter
- Clint McDonald brings 3 strong chances to the meeting and his stable is going strongly with 22 winners from the last 100 runners with a POT return of +11.5%
- Billy Egan’s recent strong form has seemed to be flying under the radar. in his last 100 rides he has ridden 19 winners with a POT return of +17.8%
Race 5
(3) Mauna Kea Miss kicks off a new campaign here today. She was a winner 1st up last prep and has looked handy in 2 recent trials so expect she can produce a strong 1st up effort and she is down on grade where she finished last prep so this looks suitable for her to kick off.
(1) Buvelot was recently in winning form but probably got too far back from a wider barrier last start, he jumps from barrier 3 today so expect he can settle closer and be a stronger chance in this better set up.
(6) Hidden Comfort looks a likely leader and gets in light at the weights after an apprentice claim so expect that she could prove tough to catch if given a soft time of it out in front.
(7) Maya’s Ace was a good winner 2 starts back but perhaps not suited by the condition next time, she may be back in the run so will want a fair track but gets her chance to run on.
Selections:
(3) Mauna Kea Miss
(1) Buvelot
(6) Hidden Comfort
(7) Maya’s Ace
Suggested Bet: (3) Mauna Kea Miss WIN
Race 7
(10) Bajaria kicked off this prep in consistent form with 2x 2nds before tackling a stronger race at Caulfield where she did appear outclassed. She drops back down in grade which suits and she looks ready for the 1400m trip so this set up suits.
(9) Scalable hit the line well when resuming at Pakenham, stays at the 1400m trip and maps softly so expect her to again be strong late.
(1) Fatty Finn is a last start winner at this track/trip set up when winning easily in maiden level, he steps up in grade today but if he runs up to that last start performance he should go close
(5) Lil Orlov maps to race positively and looks suited up to the 1400m trip now given his only career win came at this distance
Selections:
(10) Bajaria
(9) Scalable
(1) Fatty Finn
(5) Lil Orlov
Suggested Bet: (10) Bajaria WIN
