MOE
- Track is currently rated a Soft 5, expect it to remain at this rating given the forecast.
- Rail in the True.
- Expecting the track will play fairly with runners getting their chance from all positions in run if good enough. Likely the ideal lanes in the straight will be 3,4,5,6.
Race 4 No.3 Speir
Speir resumes for a new stable here today but has been a horse who has shown good speed throughout his career and should be suited with the set up he is faced with here today. Drawn low so expect he will jump to the lead and make the running, he has won 3 of 4 starts over the 1000m through his career and after a recent trial win he should likely be here in ideal order and tick along out in front solidly.
Race 7 No.5 Haraldus
Haraldus appeared somewhat plain late when 1st up at Pakenham over the 1000m when finishing midfield. But he has the scope to improve here now, fitter 2nd up, he has won 2 of 3 previous 2nd up runs in his career. He is suited rising to the 1200m today and is drawn well so gets a good run, should have no excuses if he is close to his better form again.
DONALD
- Track rated a Good 4. Some rain is forecast but unlikely to arrive until later, so expect no downgrade unless it comes early.
- Rail in the True.
- Expecting a fair track, with it on the drier side if no rain comes through the meeting, there may be a slight advantage for runners positioned forward of midfield in the run.
Race 5 No.4 Flying Fizz
Flying Fizz started as favourite in what proved to be a hot Country Series Final Heat on Horsham Cup day where she had little luck from a wide barrier and couldn’t make up ground on a day it was favourable to be forwards. She will likely have to get back in running again from a wide barrier, but expecting a quicker tempo here today from the likes of BILLIE BRONX & DIVINE THOUGHTS so that could set her up for the right run late. Has won over the track/distance set up previously.
Race 6 No.10 Surprise Coming
Surprise Coming has finished midfield in all 3 of his starts so far this prep, but the margins in those runs were close so there has been some merit in those runs. This looks a slight drop in grade for him now today and from barrier 1 and ridden by Linda Meech, he should get into a prominent position in this which will suit so with a light weight on his back he looks likely to be strong late.
