Bjorn Baker will take Warwoven home and assess him after the Magic Millions favourite was scratched by Racing Queensland vets on the morning of the $3 million Classic.
The Golden Slipper could still be on the agenda for Warwoven, with Baker and his team confident he could have run and run well at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
“My vet [Allan Frogley] and I were happy with him this morning and we were confident he could run, but you have to respect the process,” Baker said.
“We will take him home and have a good look at him when we get there and work out what’s next.”
Warwoven remained lame in the off-foreleg in the opinion of industry vets, leaving them no option other than to scratch him.
It capped 24 hours of drama for the Baker stable, who also had to scratch Masvingo because she was found to be lame.
It was a crushing blow to Baker, who had lost Paradoxium to travel sickness in the weeks leading up to the Magic Millions when he was the favourite.
Some punters had secured as much as $101 for Warwoven, which was as short as $1.75 before he was found to be lame on Friday.
Warwoven was inspected again on Friday afternoon, but a final decision came just before official scratching time.
The scratching sees big deductions on the final field betting on the Magic Millions, ranging from 34c at TAB, Palmerbet and BetR to 40c at Bet 365.
Chris and Corey Munce’s unbeaten two-year-old Zip Lock is $3 favourite ahead of Tornado Valley at $4.40.
