A future star of the greyhound circuit, due to compete in a Group 1 race on Saturday, has been forced into a name change after a complaint.

The name?

Organised Crime, who has won 6 races, and currently the $5 favourite for the Group 1 Maturity Classic on July 25.

According to reports, one of the dog’s owners received a phone call from Greyhound Racing Victoria that a change of name is necessary following a complaint.

All names for greyhounds are registered by Greyhounds Australasia.

”Following a complaint, Greyhound Racing Victoria reviewed the registered name in accordance with Greyhounds Australasia’s Naming Policy,’’ a GRV statement said.

”After consideration, it was determined the name did not comply with the policy, specifically provisions relating to names that may be considered controversial or prejudicial to the image or interests of the greyhound racing industry.

”The owner was advised that the greyhound’s name must be changed and has been given the opportunity to submit alternative names for approval in accordance with the established naming process.”

The promising star’s new name? Wrongly Accused…
