Well Written is a progressive New Zealand-bred filly whose performances have marked her as one to follow. She has consistently produced strong ratings, showing a sharp turn of foot and the ability to compete against quality opposition.
She demanded the attention of the racing world with her dominant display on Karaka Millions night, demolishing her 3yo rivals with a turn-of-foot that is saved for elite horses.
Upcoming target races:
NZB KIWI Listed 3yo 1500m 7/3/2026
JTD 98.6
The Kiwi is Well Written’s slated next start. The newly minted $4 million slot race is the richest 3yo event in the southern hemisphere. She will get in with 58kg (55 + 3kg) under the set weight and penalty conditions. Considering her high rating figures mentioned above she is well clear of the required rating to win the race. Not hard to see why the early market quote of $1.20 is justified.
Australian Guineas G1 3yo 1600m Felmington 28/2/2026
JTD 104.7
It is an unlikely target, but a worthwhile exercise, nonetheless. Well Written has been up since September and would be having her sixth run in her first preparation in the Australian Guineas. That being said, trainer Stephen Marsh has spaced the runs out. She does appreciate a bit of galloping room so the wide space at Flemington will suit.
At her most recent start in the Karaka Millions, she rated 108 with something left in hand. Her last four starts have all rated between 105 and 108 – two of those wins were over six lengths! With four performances above the JTD now her ratings profile sets up perfectly for the Australian Guineas. The early favourite Sheza Alibi also rated 108 in the Sandown Guineas, however Well Written carries more appeal with consistent ratings base and fitness advantage.
Golden Eagle G1 4yo 1500m Randwick 31/10/2026
JTD 105.7
This has to be her main target next preparation, most likely 3rd or 4th up. Autumn Glow took out the Golden Eagle with a 107 after 108 in the Epsom and Theo Marks Stakes. She’s bringing a strong ratings profile in the range of into the race with three of her last four figures clear of the JTD. Provided everything is in order, she looks ideally placed here as well.
