Racing Victoria has sensationally sacked its new chief vet Dr Glenn Robertson-Smith less than 48 hours after he was appointed following Betsy’s revelations he once threatened to kill a racing executive.
Betsy revealed on Tuesday that Dr Robertson-Smith left several voice mails threatening to kill former Melbourne Racing Club executive Jake Norton.

Police subsequently charged Racing Victoria’s new top vet, who admitted to the charge in the Melbourne Magistrates Court of ‘’using a carriage service to menace or harass’’.
He was sentenced to a diversion order but avoided a criminal conviction, which allowed him to keep his vet licence.
In response to a series of questions from Betsy on Tuesday afternoon, Racing Victoria confirmed it has terminated Dr Robertson-Smith’s employment which was due to start on August 10.
In the statement, Racing Victoria ”advises that it won’t be proceeding with the appointment of Dr Glenn Robertson-Smith as its next Chief Veterinary Officer”.
“Based on information confirmed today we have decided we won’t be proceeding with the appointment. Further, I have initiated a review of our internal processes to ensure that they are as rigorous as possible,” Racing Victoria CEO Aaron Morrison said.
”A decision on the appointment of another Chief Veterinary Officer will be made in due course.”
