Race 1: (MDN 2YO & UP 1200m)
Tempo: Average
A maiden with two standout performers from the trials making their respective debuts. (7) ECHANNAY is a big, mature-looking 2YO by Hello Youmzain out of the 8-time winner Cote D’or, a recent trial winner at Avondale in moderate time, has shown natural gate speed to take up a forward position and can lead this field. (3) PERFORMER is a Circus Maximus gelding with Robbie Patterson, a winner of both his trials at Foxton and has looked his best at the end of his trials, expect him strong late and steps out for a stable that know how to produce a debutant to win.
Suggested Bet: ECHANNAY
Race 2: (MDN 2YO&UP F&M 1200m)
Tempo: Average
Perfect race for the speedy (1) GIN AND BARE IT to break her maiden status after two game front-running performances. Her one and only trial on a H10 holds her in good stead to get through today’s conditions and is suited by the tight turning Rotorua circuit leading up a field without any pressure on the speed map. Ear covers go on to help at the end of 1200m. Best of the day. (9) NAULAHKA has showed talent at the trials ahead of her debut, a well-related filly and half-sister to stablemate Rudyard. If they overdo it up front she will be strong late.
Suggested Bet: GIN AND BARE IT (Best)
Race 5: (R65 1560m)
Tempo: Above Average
The two fillies in the race are well-placed against their older opposition. Giving (7) FINAL REASON a winning chance at odds after clearing maidens last start at Te Aroha receiving a positive ride, her two efforts prior had plenty of merit. She maps for a nice trail to pounce late following (2) MR BLACKJACK who will be looking to hold the fence and sharing lead honours with (4) ELLE MCFAB coming across from a wide gate. The other filly (9) NOT USUAL MOANA franked good recent form breaking through at Te Rapa last start, she has more upside this campaign and weighted down near the minimum after the claim, barrier is tricky but she is versatile.
Suggested Bets: FINAL REASON (Value)
Race 7: (R75 1560m)
Tempo: Above Average
The speed is expected to be strong with the claimers aboard (2) OVERRATED, (3) ZANZIBAR and (6) POSSESS taking up forward spots. That can set the race up for (8) FLAMENCO who sprinted quickly off a slow speed with visor blinkers added last start, she found herself back and keen and received a vigorous George Rooke ride to score. If she can stay in touch early then expect her strongest late with her light weight and powerful finish.
Suggested Bet: FLAMENCO
