South Australian form analyst Mitch Lewis has identified three runners to follow from Saturday’s Morphettville meeting, along with a pair of standout performers from recent jump-outs at Morphettville Parks.
Morphettville 30/5 – Horses To Follow
Race 1 (1100m 2YO BM64) – (5) Pretty Baby
Good level 2YO race and Pretty Baby was making her debut here. She was well supported, which was encouraging, but she was certainly green on debut, over-racing in stages of the race, especially when in the straight.
She presented to be a winning chance but couldn’t get past the more seasoned horse. Expect she will be much better for this experience and can be a winning chance next run.
Race 4 (1800m BM72) – (5) Starts Now
Full credit to the winner of this race, Our Sassy Lady, who put a solid speed into this race and was too strong for the runners to catch, but I liked the way Starts Now was finishing off despite a quick tempo.
It was the fastest rated To600m sectional Starts Now has had to run so far in his career and despite this, he still produced the fastest L600m and L400m of the race. He looks capable of handling a rise in distance next start now at peak fitness and, if he can get a race to suit, he could prove hard to hold out at a staying trip.
Race 5 (1100m Restricted 64) – (12) Harmonic Dancer
Harmonic Dancer was well supported for this resuming run, having contested some good races earlier in his career.
He looked to present as a winning chance in the straight but was crowded slightly and didn’t get past the runners in front of him. Fitness could have also given out slightly late, so off this run I would be happy to follow him into his next start with the extra fitness.
Trial & Jump-Out Eye Catchers – Morphettville Parks 28/5
Jump-Out 3 – Cicala
This looked a sharp jump-out with a few talented types in the race. It was a blanket finish with not a lot between the runners on the line, but Cicala came from the back of the field, clearly finishing better than any other runner in the field to finish over the top of them, and appeared to be hitting the line strongly under little pressure.
Volcanic Express is another from this trial that is worth following.
Jump-Out 6 – No Bail
No Bail was the winner of this jump-out and always looked to be travelling sweetly.
In the straight, when a few rivals were under more pressure, he appeared to extend out nicely and ran well through the line. He is a maiden runner still who has come out of some stronger races in the early part of his career. Expect him to be worth following as he looks likely to win at maiden grade when he returns.
