Summary of Best Bets:

Best Bet: Race 5 (5) Gaeilge
Next Best: Race 8 (5) Sugar Schnapps

Turf Talk:

  • The track was rated a Heavy 10 at time of writing and with further showers forecast, conditions are expected to remain firmly in the heavy range.
  • The rail moves out +7m the entire circuit.
  • In similar wet-track setups, runners settling forward of midfield have traditionally held an advantage.

Key Stats:

  • Danny O’Brien brings a strong team to the meeting and his stable is flying with 19 winners from the last 100 starters at a POT of +22.9%.
  • Ben Allen is riding in excellent form with 21 winners from his past 100 rides at a POT of +17.1%.

Race by race overview

Race 5:

(5) Gaeilge was a winner as a short-priced favourite when resuming before producing a below-expected performance second up. This race looks to map ideally, with the gelding expected to secure a soft run on speed which should help him run out a strong 1200m third up. He has previously handled rain-affected ground and profiles as suited back onto a heavy surface.

Selections:
(5) Gaeilge
(6) Small Town Hero
(2) Jett Smash
(3) Duel Venture

Suggested Bet: (5) Gaeilge (Win)

Race 8:

(5) Sugar Schnapps brings strong wet-track credentials from her New Zealand form and should relish conditions again here. She showed tactical speed at her Australian debut when leading and if able to find a similar position, she looks well placed fitter second up. In suitable conditions and likely prominent throughout, she shapes as hard to run down.

Selections:
(5) Sugar Schnapps
(6) Azzacool
(9) Unobscured
(2) Juice Box

Suggested Bet: (5) Sugar Schnapps (Win)
