The second target comes at Geelong, where Beirne believes the market has the two main chances in the wrong order.
“I agree with the market that there are realistically only two hopes, with a slim chance for Trentino to cause the upset,” Beirne said.
But of the leading pair, Meness is the horse he wants on his side.
“Meness is the top rater for me and the market appears to be the wrong way around.”
Meness should also enjoy the better run in transit, with the map potentially proving decisive after the pair clashed last start.
“Meness has the map favours and, based on when they clashed last start, I imagine True Rebel will be flying late. I’m banking on Meness getting a soft lead and holding on.”
