Trainer Katherine Coleman’s trip to Sydney with star filly Sheza Alibi started the right way when she watched Coolmore Classic-bound Ole Dancer on Saturday morning.
By the end of the day all the talk was about where Sheza Ailibi will be seen next after her Randwick Guineas, Peter Moody was just as pleased with the report about the stable’s other Group 1 winning filly.
“Katherine was rapt with what she saw from Ole Dancer in the morning,” Moody told Betsy. “She stayed up there after [running third in] the Surround Stakes and she has done well.”
“She will be better again in the Coolmore and has to be one of the chances.”
Ole Dancer won the Thousand Guineas in the spring and has taken steps forward with each run, she will continue the Moody-Coleman influence on Sydney autumn carnival.
Sheza Alibi was back at Pakenham on Sunday and whether she will return to Sydney for another Group 1 will be decided in the next couple of days.
“She’s pretty special, I didn’t think she would put a gap in them like that,” Moody said of the 3-1/2 length Randwick Guineas.
“It was a long way back to a Caulfield Guineas winner, that doesn’t happen too often in a Group 1.”
“We will go over her early in the week and have a talk about what might be next.”
“I would think the Doncaster is unlikely.”
Sheza Alibi, who is unbeaten since the blinkers went on, is exempt from the Doncaster ballot and only 49kg in Australia’s greatest mile.
“She might have one more run but she has been up for a year and has to have a break soon,” Moody said. “She was always good but the blinkers have sharpened her focus.”
On the boy side of things Moody and Coleman will sent Victorious Spirit, an eyecatching fourth in the Australian Guineas, and Bingi to Rosehill Guineas on Golden Slipper day.
They will joined by recent Golden Comet winner Bridal Waltz in The Galaxy.
