Bet Legends founder Shaun Beirne is back with another edition of Take Us On, identifying two runners at Doomben he believes are under the odds.
Using his ratings and race-map analysis, Beirne is prepared to oppose both favourites, believing each faces a much tougher assignment than the market suggests.
Doomben Race 5 – Larado
Larado has attracted support, but Beirne believes the race sets up poorly for the gelding.
“He showed speed in a recent trial, but I’ve mapped him much further back based on what he’s done at the races,” Beirne said.
“From that draw he’s going to need things to fall his way, and I don’t think the setup suits.”
Beirne also believes the market has overestimated the horse’s recent performances.
“The figures just don’t add up for me. At the current price, I’m happy to be against him.”

Doomben Race 7 – Larrikin Rogue
Whispering Rogue is the other runner Beirne is keen to oppose.
“I’ve got him mapping back on the fence, which is a horrible spot to be in this race,” he said.
“The pace ratings are against him and I think he’s much shorter than he should be.”
Beirne also questioned why the gelding has been so well supported.
“I wonder whether there’s been some influence from micro syndicates in the market, because I certainly can’t have him as short as the current quote.”
