Race 2: (3YO SW+P 1600m)
Tempo: Average
Top two in the market have a clear edge. (2) SINGLE RED was impressive early at the lower levels and measured up to the season’s best 3YO fillies at the end of her 1st campaign. Recent trial at Cambridge was smart work and appears forward to return off a 63 day gap. She gets her chance first-up with a tactical advantage over key rival (1) PLATINUM DIAMOND who has trialled like a bomb since a fair effort first-up, still yet to prove she isn’t just a wet-tracker.
Suggested Bet: SINGLE RED
Race 5: (G3 3YO SW 1200m)
Tempo: Above Average
Outstanding edition of the Breeders Stakes with fillies dominating the entries. The pace will be on early with key speed influences drawn out on the track. (7) CHEERIO is improving with racing and needs to go to another level again to match proven performers, simply should’ve won last start, a lack of intent early found her blocked for a run in the Trentham straight and sprinted quick once clear. Again a soft draw, she has gate speed if George Rooke is willing to use and can park up behind the leaders and await the gap. Respect the chances of (4) TO CAP IT ALL appeals off the map, another to catch the eye at the trials but she is aggressively priced for a one win horse.
Suggested Bet: CHEERIO
Race 6: (R75 1200m)
Tempo: Above Average
Speed is good. (9) RIBRAKA impressed at the Tauranga trials leading into this first-up run, always competitive when allowed to dictate and love this jockey/horse combination linking up. An in-form apprentice who will let them run. The pressure to his outside comes from (7) MISS JONES is now deep into her preparation and holding form, the drop in class suits. (5) ROMILLY is going well, she has a big finish when ridden cold with one run, back to 1200m with the speed on, a good opportunity to balance up from a wide draw and launch late.
Suggested Bets: ROMILLY and RIBKRAKA
Race 7: (WFA F&M 2000m)
Tempo: Average
Two in-form mares standout. (2) KHANSHE is in career best and having an outstanding campaign notably her past two efforts at WFA level against her own sex. A backmarker who would ideally appreciate more speed but with (8) PRIVY GARDEN engaged with blinkers going on there is potential for a solid tempo. (3) WHO KNOWS is flying this campaign and ready to peak third-up. A surprise win first-up when snagged at the start and sprinted hard off a good speed at the mile. She was smashed in betting last start and luckless in the straight, the firmer track conditions also working against her. The inside gate is problematic and may find trouble getting out.
Suggested Bet: KHANSHE
