Race 1: (R65 2100m)
Tempo: Average
Nice race for (3) COSMIC PURSUIT to continue his progression this campaign. Forced to take a sit behind a strong speed at Ellerslie last start and stuck on well after being off the bridle a long way out, he’s better suited on this moderate speed dictating the pace to suit with a very capable apprentice claiming 2kg.
Suggested Bet: COSMIC PURSUIT
Race 3: (R65 1200m)
Tempo: Above Average
A good tempo expected early and many of those forward in running are soft at the end of their races. This presents an opportunity for a horse such as the resuming (9) ATLANTA GOLD to show up fresh as she has a neat finish when tracking a fast speed, she’ll do no work from the barrier and be charging at them late. Rates a Top 3 chance in this field and is over the odds.
Suggested Bet: ATLANTA GOLD
Race 7: (R65 1600m)
Tempo: Average
The filly (14) LODI DODI was backed at a price last start and arguably unlucky, held up at a key stage and took a while to build momentum, nice work late. Can take a forward position from the wide draw and take luck out of the equation with right man aboard in Craig Grylls. Represents a good each-way chance with any luck from a wide draw.
Suggested Bet: LODI DODI
Race 8: (R75 1400m)
Tempo: Above Average
The pace should be hot early! EL JAYCEE, MO CHARAID, BUTTERFIELD, WHAT A YARN all go forward. The map horse is (13) MID OCEAN, forget she went around first-up at Ellerslie, squeezed at the start and further back than the market expected. Found the line ok, can improve significantly on a drier surface second-up chasing a fast speed from a perfect draw, 1400m her right distance. The other key chance out of that race is (4) HANKEE ALPHA who lit up the clock with fast closing splits, she does this often with her negative racing style, the query is she isn’t as effective at 1400m.
Suggested Bet: MID OCEAN
