Rail out 4m at Canterbury and the track does look like it will be pretty wet. 1-7mm forecast on the day and we are already on a Heavy 8. That said, the track was rated a 6 on Saturday and it raced like a 4 – so who knows in NSW these days.
Race 6 – 4:20PM RANVET HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
We focus on the BM72 over 1100m. Speed from MISS TRENTINO and ZALE who have the race fitness on their side.
Two horses first up and they look like the two key hopes. #1 RUINATION has trialled very well on two occasions leading in and the fact he returns gelded suggests he is in for a big campaign. He performed well on a Soft 7 last time we saw him which adds further confidence. First up on a wet track is always a query, especially with a big weight but he gets a handy claim, should lob in a nice spot from barrier 6 and his best is good enough. That second to Attica in the Dulcify stands out. Tipping he will be hard to beat and looks the value in the race. Praying he can handle a very wet track.
#12 TAXATION is a winner on a Heavy track in the past and she too has trialled nicely. Three trials leading in should have her ready to go and she finds James McDonald for her first up assignment.
Think the winner comes from these two, but leaning to #1 RUINATION at the value as we have him marked shorter than the current $4.80 on offer.
#5 MELANITE won well last start and has a fitness edge but not sure the form stacks up all that well. #7 MISS TRENTINO and #3 ZALE have tactical speed and race fitness also.
Suggested Bet:
#1 RUINATION (WIN) – $4.80
