Cranbourne (Monday November 3)
Heat 1: Biancelli (1st) & Hughes (2nd)
A couple of quality gallopers who jumped out well, as you’d expect.
Biancelli has always been a good trial horse and this was no exception. She won the heat under her own steam, posting fast time for the morning. She’s very lightly raced for a 4yo mare and managed only one run last campaign, so maybe there’s been a few issues, but she’s got great talent.
Loved how Hughes hit the line from the tail. He’s done a great job since joining the Bedggood stable and wherever he heads fresh, expect him to run well.
Heat 3: Rhia (1st)
Lovely, on-speed trial from this lightly-raced mare. She jumped the gates well, led the field throughout and was strong past the post. She’s only had the five starts and as a 62 rated can quickly work her way through the lower ratings grades.
Heat 9: Razanne (1st)
She wasn’t the best to begin, but mustered quickly to race on speed. Didn’t carry a huge amount of weight, but was under restraint up the home lane, posting good time for the latter half of the morning. She wasn’t stopping on the line either, continuing on with her work after the post. She showed ability last campaign and when she ultimately debuts can quickly find the winner’s circle.
Heat 10: Bolting Blue (1st)
Robbie Griffiths looks to have a really strong team set to tackle the summer months, so he’s a trainer to keep an eye on the next few weeks. One of those is Bolting Blue, who took out the last heat of the morning on Monday. He mustered good speed, kicked clear on his rivals under light riding and won the heat with plenty in hand. The little knock is he has been slow out in both jump-outs, albeit he did improve this time out.
Caulfield (Wednesday November 5)
Heat 2 – Botanical Boy (3rd)
This was Botanical Boy’s second jump-out for the campaign and he looks ready to go back to the races. He was excellent in winning his heat at Cranbourne on October 20 and again worked very nicely here at Caulfield. He travelled strongly in behind the speed and when slipped a little rein he responded very nicely.
Vinrock had a tick-over jump-out in this heat after being scratched from the Carbine Club. He was ridden quietly, settled second last, before being revved up to make ground around the home bend. He responded as you’d hope he would but only scores a pass mark for this work. Noteworthy that he trialled in blinkers.
Heat 3 – Magnabelle Royale (1st)
A lovely filly who is set to make her presence felt when she debuts. She has won all three jump-outs this time in, and done so impressively on each occasion. She settled just behind the speed here before using the inside running to take control about 250m from home. She wasn’t pushed out the last 200m, winning with plenty in hand.
Lotta City worked to the line nicely in third, her second good trial of the campaign. She has a win in her early doors.
