Overview:
Pounce — Chris Waller (James McDonald)
Warwick Farm H4 818m – Oct 3
Back-to-back sneaky good trials by this Resolute Racing 5yo mare. She’s obviously taken time to mature, but what I’ve liked most about her two efforts has been her work late and past the post. She has Group form littered through her U.S. runs – that’s what we want to see, especially over 900m and 818m trials.
Crepe Myrtle — Joe Pride (Zac Lloyd)
Warwick Farm H4 818m – Oct 3
First trial for the new camp and this lightly raced mare looks to be absolutely flying. Quiet enough first trial before getting strung up on the back of her rivals in the latest – she looked ready to explode and did so through the line. Ready for the races.
Amazing Eagle — Ryan & Alexiou (Tyler Schiller)
Warwick Farm H5 818m – Oct 3
Smart overall time and strong last 600m. He won the Listed Brian Crowley last prep but hasn’t been seen for 45 weeks. He’s always trialled well but looks a lot more relaxed in both hit-outs this time in. Ready for the races.
Silver Wedding — Ciaron Maher (James McDonald)
Warwick Farm H6 818m – Oct 3
Rose to Listed grade last prep and again looks to have come back better. Loved her work late behind the race-fit duo Penpel and Raging Force. This was her first trial for the prep too – impressive. Look for a second one now.
Viva Invincible — Chris Waller (James McDonald)
Warwick Farm H8 818m – Oct 3
First 2yo heat of the morning. This $900k filly, half to Switzerland and Hard Landing, impressed. She was given a quiet time of it but looked sharp when pushing back to the inside. The winner was well pushed out while she sat poised. Solid time and she was clearly the pick.
Naifah (Nay-far) — Price & Kent Jnr (James McDonald)
Warwick Farm H11 815m – Oct 3
Smart overall time here. Loved the poised nature in which Naifah attacked this heat. Dam is a half to Charm Stone and Najmaty. This was her first trial back – look for a second one now with James to stick.
Simply Nutbush — Jarrod Austin (Ellen Hennessy)
Warwick Farm H11 815m – Oct 3
Hot heat this. Simply Nutbush was in a trial of his own out the back as jockey Ellen Hennessy tried to keep him under wraps. The 5yo gelding is 0/6 but looks to have come back in outstanding condition. Look for a second trial now before heading to the races.
Casserousse — Joe Pride (Zac Lloyd)
Warwick Farm H14 812m – Oct 3
A very fast overall time and allied L600m. Now with Joe Pride and was having his first trial back for the prep. He debuted in a hot Kembla Grange maiden before being sent to the paddock. Look for his second trial before coming back to the races.
Terra Lumina — Jason Coyle (Jason Collett)
Warwick Farm H16 812m – Oct 3
Sneaky good debut trial by this son of Earthlight. He wanted to do a fair bit wrong in the trial, but once he balanced out he picked up ground smartly, attacking the line well. I liked his work through the line too – look for him to improve manners-wise in the second trial.
Goldane — Bjorn Baker (Rachel King)
Randwick H10 740m – Oct 7
3.3L debut winner who looks to have come back in outstanding order. Her action was faultless as she put a margin on her rivals in a flash. Smart overall time and we’ll see her one more time before she heads to the races.
Fornelli — O’Shea & Charlton (Dylan Gibbons)
Randwick H12 740m – Oct 7
Cracking trial – I want to follow all three of these fillies. Fast overall time and these three were the clear standouts. Keen to see the second trial of all of them. Smart, smart heat.
Plaintiff — Peter Snowden (Tommy Berry)
Randwick H12 740m – Oct 7
Cracking trial – I want to follow all three of these fillies. Fast overall time and these three were the clear standouts. Keen to see the second trial of all of them. Smart, smart heat.
Swordplay — Bjorn Baker (Rachel King)
Randwick H12 740m – Oct 7
Cracking trial – I want to follow all three of these fillies. Fast overall time and these three were the clear standouts. Keen to see the second trial of all of them. Smart, smart heat.
Mayfair — Bjorn Baker (Joshua Parr)
Randwick H2 1200m – Oct 7
Baker looks to have this impressive gelding back to his best. Bought off Inglis Digital by Derby Racing, he has looked sharp in both trials back. The latest was the pick when opening up the shoulders late before working right through the line. Ready for the races.
Caballus — Bjorn Baker (Jason Collett)
Randwick H3 1050m – Oct 7
He looks to have come back even better. Caballus found his straps last prep after winning first up for the Baker camp, and again he looks to have improved. Ready to head back to the races.
