National News — Kim Waugh (Alysha Collett)
Wyong H7 1000m – Nov 10
Fastest time of the 1000m heats by a margin. Smart tactical speed as this 3yo filly stepped out for her second career prep. She bowled along out in front before clicking up sharply through her gears in the straight, never let off the bridle and extended away smartly. Look for a second trial now.
Stormfield — Gary Portelli (Alysha Collett)
Warwick Farm H4 801m – Nov 13
Good overall time by this talented 4yo gelding. He has had over 44 weeks off but looks back in a big way. Back-to-back smart on-speed trials when doing it impressively under wraps. Smart opposition too, which is always a good guide.
Unleeshing — Bjorn Baker (Rachel King)
Hawkesbury H9 800m – Nov 17
4yo mare who hasn’t been seen for over 46 weeks. She looked good in her second prep when starting $3.90 first up, before running into Private Harry in her third career start, only beaten 1.5L. She’s had an issue and an extended break but looked fluent in her action when doing her best work late in this trial. Look for a second one now.
Monocru — Ciaron Maher (Ashley Morgan)
Hawkesbury H14 800m – Nov 17
Sneaky good trial by this lightly raced 3yo filly. Solid overall time as well. She was ridden very quietly before working impressively through her gears late and through the line. I suspect off these quiet trials she’ll be nice and fresh first up and come up good odds.
West Of Africa — R & A Archibald (Tom Sherry)
Warwick Farm H6 801m – Nov 13
Established galloper who has taken solid steps in her past two preps. This is the best I’ve seen her trial, and what I liked most was how close she put herself to the speed. In for a good prep.
