Race 1 – Maiden 1000m (1.06pm)
This is Dunkeld’s annual Cup meeting which gets a massive crowd. It’s one of the most picturesque tracks in the country. There has been plenty of rain so the track is currently in the Heavy range, but on the improve. It’s a track you want to be on speed as a rule.
#7 MAGNABELLE ROYALE has trialled up very well on several occasions. She’s a filly that leaves the gates nicely and should either lead, or sit outside #6 GWEN’S GIRL. Loved how she quickened down to win her recent Caulfield jump-out in fast time for the morning, and on the back of 2 x 800m and 1x 600m jump-outs she should be primed for this debut. Being a daughter of Magnus won’t hurt her on the wet deck. She’s currently ~$2.60 and equal favourite with Gwen’s Girl, think she starts closer to $2.
#6 GWEN’S GIRL has gone up the early favourite. She has trialled brilliantly, going to the line with subsequent winner Torotena in her recent Terang jump-out. The knock is she also trialled up well last campaign and folded like a deck of cards on debut.
Betting Suggestion:
Back #7 MAGNABELLE ROYALE (WIN).
