Race 1 – 1:30PM Ladbrokes Form Genius 3YO Maiden Plate (1125 METRES)
This is a cracking Maiden.
Love how #6 MILOS FILOS has trialled. She was given a very quiet hitout at Kyneton on December 12 but ramped it up with a strong effort at Sandown last Thursday. She settled off the speed but quickly reeled her rivals in, winning with plenty in hand. She was very green last campaign, often wanting to lay in and even attempting to buck at Geelong prior to a spell, but despite that she showed good talent. She has come back a more professional filly and will be winning a better race than a Maiden in time. Strikes a strong race here and she will get back, which isn’t always ideal at Geelong, but at double figure odds she can figure in the finish.
#10 THALESTRIS has jumped-out brilliantly ahead of her second campaign. She beat subsequent winner Savoyard at Caulfield in a trial on December 24 before impressively winning her recent jump-out at Mornington under Mark Zahra. She got back on debut on a day you wanted to be on speed – happy to forgive. She has pinged the gates this time in so should land on speed from gate three. Good booking with Ben Melham in the saddle.
#2 OYSTER LANE has solid metro 2yo form through his first campaign. He’s trialled well enough and can absolutely win. I just don’t think that 2yo form is as strong as the market is currently assessing it – therefore he looks a touch under the odds. Doesn’t have the most straightforward map, either.
#1 GENERAL BLU has jumped-out nicely ahead of his debut and the Simon Zahra stable are going well.
Deep race. Should be metro form to come out of this.
Suggested bet:
At the prices happy to back #6 MILOS FILOS (~$11) and THALESTRIS (~$5).
