Race 1 – 1135m 3yo Maiden
Thankfully these debutants get first use of the track. Good race.
Loved the trials of (11) Taupe. She is tactically versatile, and with Meech on for this debut expect her to roll forward. Not that trials are the best guide, but she won her recent jump-out on a Heavy 9 track, so it’s at least some indicator that she may get through the going – but it all comes down to how they respond under raceday pressure. She isn’t currently favourite, but think she should be.
Loved the way (15) Mystery ‘N’ Drama trialled at Pakenham on October 14. She quickened down beautifully to win that heat, albeit maybe a touch flattered by being along the outside rail, where plenty of the winners came on the morning.
(4) Regal Ripper responded to riding well in his recent jump-out win at Pakenham. He looks to have good ability.
Suggested bet: Keen on Taupe, something smaller on Mystery ‘N’ Drama.
