Race 4 – 3:00PM LouvreTec Melbourne Plate (1000 METRES)
They don’t trial must better than #11 BOLD SUITOR. This gelding has had two jump-outs this time in, both at home, here at Mornington. He has been simply outstanding in each, especially his latest 790m piece of work. That’s the perfect grounding for a 1000m race first-up. He was saved from a race at Seymour on a hot day last week and instead resumes here at home.
The form through his last campaign is strong. He ran well in a race that has produced strong subsequent form on debut before copping some interference shortly after the start at Cranbourne prior to a spell.
Importantly, he has jumped the gates better in his most recent jump-out having been slow out in both runs last campaign. Drawn ideally, he should sit on top of the speed and prove awfully hard to beat.
The horse to beat is Lapland. He ran well in all three outings last campaign, the latest of those at Geelong in a strong form race. The query is the 1000m – he looks more a 1200m horse. He was good in his first jump-out here at Mornington but just fair in a 1000m hit out at Balnarring most recently. He can absolutely win, but at 1000m happy to bet around him at a short quote.
