This looks a competitive race here for the 3-year-olds with many given a chance. Cracking day at Morphettville, racing on a Good 4 with a nice, sunny day. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them getting a couple away from the fence as the day goes on.
Really liked the return trial from (4) MOSTLY FOR SHOW. This horse is still a maiden but has shown plenty of ability in its runs to date. He was narrowly beaten fresh last time in by Golden Horizon and Matahga (good horse) before two strong runs in better grade when out slightly in trip. The Matahga/Ethereum Girl form is very strong for this race, and I thought the recent trial showed that he has improved after his spell. He showed good speed and held the front and went to the line well under no riding. Loved the way he moved and despite the sticky gate and potential to want further, $7.50 here in this field just looks too big.
(1) GOLDEN HORIZON is the deserved favourite after being beaten by a smart one fresh and then sitting wide/no cover and winning strongly last time out. Now must give the rest weight as a result and barrier 1 could be sticky if he can’t hold the front. Didn’t love the trial of (2) GROUND CONTROL. No doubt the horse has talent, and the debut win was very impressive, but I wanted to see more at his last trial to bet with any confidence. (3) BOOTLEGGER has trialled well twice leading into this and has a winning chance also.
Betting Suggestion:
Open and competitive race but want to back (4) MOSTLY FOR SHOW. Can bet each way at the $7.50 currently on offer.
