Race 3 – 1:45PM Janelle Puppa Real Estate Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
#8 EXCELS has always shown terrific talent in trials. She had one run back in December last year when caught deep at The Valley before knocking up late. Genuine excuses there and has since been given plenty of time. She had two trails at the start of spring but clearly didn’t come up and went away for another break. Her two jump-outs this campaign have been outstanding, showing good gate speed before winning each in slick time. Grahame Begg is a master trainer and if there’s any talent there he will get the best out of her. She may just be a ‘dawn warrior’ but on the evidence of work this time in is worth backing here as she could ‘blow them away’.
#13 ROSANGELA always trials well and she has again. Willo rides, which is a plus, but she really seems to lack intestinal fortitude and I couldn’t possibly take odds on about her. In fact, at odds on, I am very keen to bet around her.
