Emerging star and Cox Plate hope Treasurethe Moment has a mild case of colic and is out of the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on Saturday – and her Cox Plate tilt could be in doubt.
Her trainer Matt Laurie confirmed the news this morning.
“It has been decided that Treasurethe Moment will not compete in the Makybe Diva Stakes this weekend and the stewards have been duly informed,” Laurie posted on X. “Unfortunately this morning Treasure had a very mild case of colic. This was identified very quickly and out of precaution she was taken to hospital for observation. I can report she is in the best of care, she looks bright and her prognosis is very good.”
“We will look at other race alternatives in due course, always keeping her best interest as a priority.”
Treasurethe Moment is currently $5 with Bet365 for the Cox Plate.
Yulong’s Sam Fairgray conceeded to SENTrack that four-year-old’s Cox Plate tilt may be in doubt.
“I’d say [her chances of racing again this spring are] fairly high because it was only so very mild,” he said.
“Obviously this weekend is out, but Matt will get her back to the stable and ease her along. He will set a new plan for her – the Cox Plate may be in doubt. It just depends on how she responds and she’ll tell us what she wants to do.
“At this stage, all going well. It was only a mild, mild case, but obviously we want to take all precautions with a mare like her.
“She looks like she’s over it and heading in the right direction, but we’ll just continue to monitor her closely. The last update was very positive, and that she was bright and back to her old self.
“Fingers crossed, she keeps hitting the right direction. Matt and the team were on to her very quickly and the vets gave her all the care that she needs.”
