Best Bet: Race 7 No. 1 King Incanto
Next Best: Race 1 No. 10 My Bonnie Lass
Turf Talk:
- The track is already rated a Heavy 10 and, despite clearing conditions forecast, there appears little chance of any significant upgrade.
- The rail remains in the true position from the previous meeting, which was run in similar conditions. Wangaratta is generally a fair circuit, with even starts and a long straight giving runners a chance to win from a variety of positions.
Stats That Matter
- Brad Rawiller is in strong recent form, riding 16 winners from his past 100 rides with a healthy POT return of +20.7%. He takes five rides on the program.
- The local J E & C Ledger team has also been in strong form, producing 12 winners from its past 100 starters for a POT return of +33%. It also remains worth keeping a close eye on Patrick Payne, who has trained 19 winners from his past 100 runners.
Race 1
My Bonnie Lass produced a career peak last start at Moe when running a close second behind a well-supported debutant. The key from that run is that the two best performances of her career have come on wet tracks, so conditions here should suit. If she holds her recent form in maidens that look stronger than this, she should be hard to beat. Regal Vanguard showed improvement last start when running second here behind a runaway winner and put a length on the third-placed runner, so that form may stack up well in similar conditions. Xuxa Kiss resumes for her second preparation after contesting what look stronger maidens in her debut campaign, and she looked in good order in a recent trial. My Alpha Sonic maps for a positive run and gets a handy drop in weight thanks to an apprentice claim.

Suggested Bet: (10) My Bonnie Lass (Win)
Race 7
King Incanto has hit the line strongly in his past couple of runs but has not done quite enough to win. He can improve in this set-up, given he handles the conditions and is suited at his home track. Hot Chilli Mama resumes, has won first-up previously and handles wet tracks, so expect she can perform well, although she will need the right run from a wide barrier. Boulder Jack is a last-start winner in similar wet conditions and, if he can cross quickly from a wide barrier, has the speed to be in the race for a long way. Mishima has produced his best performances on wet tracks previously, so these conditions give him his chance to perform close to his best form.
Selections
(1) King Incanto
(10) Hot Chilli Mama
(3) Boulder Jack
(11) Mishima
Suggested Bet: (1) King Incanto (Win)
