Magic Millions favourite Warwoven is still lame following a crucial trot-up at 3pm in Brisbane, after being found to be lame in the off-foreleg by Racing Queensland vets on Friday morning.
Fellow Bjorn Baker runner Masvingo was also still lame following a 3pm inspection, with both to be reinspected at 6am on Saturday.
The regular pre-race vet checks by Racing Queensland found both Baker’s runners to show signs of lameness while Masvingo was lame in the near foreleg.
Warwoven and Masvingo were both graded to be 2-in-5 lame.
“They just weren’t 100 percent today,” Baker said on his regular Friday live podcast.“
“We do think with Warwoven there is possibly a bit of a foot issue and we will work that out.“
“We are confident he will be right tomorrow.“
“It’s been a very tough, demanding morning for us all.”
Chief steward Josh Adams has worked with the Baker stable.
“We have been in discussion with Bjorn Baker when we will have another look at them,” Adams said.
“They are going to send their vet [Allan Frogley] up for the inspection this afternoon.“
“We can wait until tomorrow morning to do a final inspection before scratching time, but they are both in doubt.”
Warwoven had been as short as $1.70 in betting before the news and was out to $1.95 with the doubt of him starting.
It would have a dramatic effect on the betting with deductions to be around the 40c mark should Warwoven be scratched.
