The rain and storms of Derby Day have cleared, which should see a big crowd head down the coast for an afternoon of racing.

Mornington is a tight, turning track that often favours horses racing closer to the speed, while the locals generally punch above their weight on their home deck.

Mitch Lewis takes a look at the feature:

It is a small field for this feature race but there looks to be some solid speed in this race through the early stages. Feel that can play into the hands of local (2) Wonder Boy who has finished at the rear of his last two runs but this set up is more suitable down in grade and getting to the 1600m trip. The best run of his over the last year came at this track/distance set up so this looks a suitable race for him.

(1) Lim’s Saltoro has good early speed and looks the likely leader. Knocking on the door for a win off the back of 2x recent placings and can prove hard to catch with a soft run out in front.

(5) Presser was the winner of this race last year and looks ideal to produce a peak run now 3rd up into his prep and back up to the 1600m trip where he has a strong record.

(6) Reset The Jazz is another key speed influence of the race and will likely race on speed. He needs to rise in level for this but the small field could suit him
