Today’s Betsy’s Bests – Geelong
Race No. Horse Notes
1 9 Davida Trialled super. Looks the leader.
1 11 Head Capitalist Trialled well between runs. Improver at odds.
4 1 Diesel Desmond Jumped-out well. Suitable trip on debut.
4 8 Justified At Last Little luck last start. Big odds.
6 2 Amphactor Luckless last start, suited here.

Track Pattern Outlook
  • The rail is out 3m from the 1800m to the 400m, which is important.
  • With the rail true, Geelong can favour those on speed.
  • Rail movement may help offset that a touch, but still favouring runners in the first four.
Key Geelong Stats
  • The Hayes boys are going at 22.1% at Geelong.
  • Harry Coffey is in-form, booting home 21 winners from his last 100 rides at a 16.5% PoT.
  • Apprentice Emily Pozman is another riding well, going at 17% from her last 100 rides but more importantly a 32.7% PoT.
Overview
Race 1 No.9 Davida & No.11 Head Capitalist

Davida was as ‘green as grass’ on debut in a strong race at Pakenham last campaign. She has trialled very well this time in, showing good gate speed and winning each heat under her own steam. Suspect she leads here and with first use of a firming deck should be hard to catch.

Head Capitalist was OK in a strong race on debut. The race shape there suited the leaders and there’s been strong form to come out of it. She has trialled nicely between runs and can improve sharply at odds.

Race 4 No.1 Diesel Desmond & No.8 Justified At Last

Diesel Desmond has had a number of jump-outs to prepare for this debut and he has shown talent in each. A son of Puissance De Lune, the 1523m looks and ideal starting point and from a good gate he shouldn’t concede too big a start.

Justified At Last comes through a reasonable form race first up at Wodonga. She had no luck there and should’ve finished closer. The gate is against, but with even luck she can run a good race at big odds.

Race 6 No.2 Amphactor

Amphactor was ‘all dressed up with nowhere to go’ at Sandown last start. The form guide says he finished 9th but with clean air he could’ve been much closer. He draws to get a nice run here and this is certainly easier than what he tackled last time out. I have him marked favourite, so certainly keen to take the $5.50 on offer.
