- Plenty of racing at Warrnambool of late so the track will have plenty of wear and tear
- Starting on a Soft 4 with drying conditions – don’t think it will be any disadvantage to be on speed.
Race 5
(11) Star Compass draws for a perfect run handy to the speed and this looks an ideal race for him to break his maiden. He comes into this through two strong maidens at Hamilton and Murtoa, with plenty of strong subsequent form out of each race. Third-up now, getting back to 1200m, in a weaker maiden, he looks ready to strike.
(7) Shaykhlislamova has a change at huge odds. She has been racing across the border at Mount Gambier, with both runs this time in solid. She should lead them up here and give a sight.
(12) Lady Lonsdale has a chance. She was just ‘fair’ first up but raced in restricted room and has trialled well since. Tricky map for her. (2) Big Rooster is another winning hope – suspect he will be better over further than 1200m in time, but can measure up.

Race 6
Looks good speed here.
(5) Foragoodcause has been terrific in all three runs this campaign and like that he now gets to 1200m. He was home the best last 400/200 of the meeting two back at Bendigo and then second best last 200m split last time out, running third on each occasion. It wasn’t an easy day to come back and wide when he made ground last start, the first two over the line being rails in run. He draws a better gate today – be great to see them use it and get in front of a couple early, because he doesn’t jump the gates terribly.
Having something on (11) Wild Pharaoh. He may be a ‘dawn warrior’ and today’s his ‘last chance saloon’. He has trialled very well leading into this – which he has done previously and not performed on game day – but from gate two he should lead and take catching.
